About Us

ZoaSearch.com

A simple tool for hobbyists by hobbyists.

But…why?

I’m not going to lie, as a photographer and a hobbyist I slightly cringe when I see a zoa ID thread. Generally the picture is horrible(I even joke it may have been taken with a potato sometimes), you get everyone coming out of the woodwork to give the user an ID and most of the time the suggestions are universes away from the actual answer. Because of the overwhelming response its also common for the correct answer to be hidden under hundreds of comments. Why not provide a place for people to reference with quality images and tons of additional content?

Vested Interest IDs…

While many will disagree with my opinion here, I’ve found that when vendors produce a section to identify zoas they somehow, inevitably end up posting zoanthids under some obscure fancy name that only they produce. Oddly enough, it also very closely resembles an old school or common zoa that is 10x cheaper and yet its always the vendor exclusive, more expensive zoa name that is listed. Maybe I’m extremely cynical but my goal is to provide industry standard ID’s on zoas and hopefully overtime, cut down on the needless renaming of zoas.
